Plum and cinnamon crumble

I like September for many reasons, one them being plums. I made a plum and cinnamon compote (plums and home made cinnamon sugar) a couple of days ago and put it in a couple of jars. Yesterday, I decided to use it in a crumble. I do feel bad that Alan can't have any of it because of his new food restrictions...
The scent of plums, sugar and cinnamon all simmering gently in the pan is just HEAVENLY! What I love about it, is that it reminds me of Belgium. They make wonderful plum and cinnamon tarts. A scent very much associated with happy childhood memories of my Aunt and Grandmother baking in the kitchen in Belgium. I know I often go back to those times but they were very special and treasured times to me.

bientôt!

Wow is that a scallop biscuit mould? How divine - I am with you on crumbles, plums and cinnamon all yummy especially together. I am baking a banana and chocolate chip loaf along with the filling for an epic steak and guinness pie, so it feels a little like the kitchen at Downton Abbey! Sadly I don't have a scullery maid to wash up for me! Have a brilliant day,

Isabelle,

That madeline pan is wonderful.
And the Jam jars, the plum conserve, the baking with bounty from summer. I understand so well about the happy memories you carry of kitchen baking with beloved family. The smells for me bring back that feeling of being safe and loved all laced in with the smell of cinnamon and spice~

Oh my, that looks so good! I was in the city yesterday and went to a good organice grocer where I almost bought some yummy looking plums, but decided I already had too much in my cart. Think I must go back for some, so I can make this crumble ;).
Blessings,

Isabelle, this looks so good. I loved reading about your special memories of the women in your past cooking up tasty things in their kitchen at home. These memories are what hold us to our families. So special!
I was so sorry to read about Alan's food allergies and his restrictions...I would be in such a state if I could have my sweet things.lol! I hope he gets to feeling so good that he no longer misses them in his diet.

That crumble looks so delicious! And your lovely series of photos is mouthwatering. Sunday lunch fruit crumbles were a family tradition and all our three children have taken it on in their own families. Recently Mr EM's diet has also become medically restricted so desserts have almost disappeared from our menus. But on a recent visit to our (grown up)son he produced a wonderful plum crumble and we both happily, and naughtily, succumbed.

Poor Alan. You are trying to torture him! I adore crumble. Oh, now I feel like crumble! Isabelle, don't post another crumble post! I've been on a strict diet too. Apple crumble is my favourite. I love it with custard. Now you have started me...

Your cake looks wonderful. And with cinnamon - a very good spice in the autumn. I think.
