ZZZzzz......Are you getting enough?

Do you ever feel like this?

I am a busy bee with an active mind. It does mean that sometimes I don't always switch off easily at night time.

Like many children, Miss P does not like going to sleep. Such a waste of time when you could be playing instead!

Lavender is well known for helping and so are hops. A few days ago, I bought a 200g bag of hop & lavender pillow mix, hop & lavender sleepy oil and a sleepy tea . Either of those are suitable for adults and children alike. I ordered these through The HOP Shop in Kent.

Here's looking forward to good quality ZZzzzzz......

What do you do to help you have a more restful sleep?

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE LOVELY COMMENTS YOU HAVE MADE ON THE LOUNGE MAKEOVER POST!

A bientôt!

Isabelle x

Occasionally, a glass of wine ... nothing more, nothing less, nor anything else.

May your eve be full, warm & loving.

Isabelle, I never get enough sleep. It is sad and true. For four years I have had broken sleep with not only my daughter but also my elderly dog who wakes us a lot. I also confess that I can often still be up at midnight trying to get things done I had no time for during the day and even cleaning at 10pm at night! My health and hormones suffered as a result of these years. I really have to be more strict with myself and this post is a reminder. I also love Lavender. I can't give you any good tips I am afraid but I'll read your replies with interest!

ps As regards Cookie, it is a fab American magazine with lots of yummy mummies and urban couples but I did hear a rumour today that it is closing. So sad if it's true so don't subscribe just yet! I'll keep you posted. Fingers crossed for Romantic Country as I also lost Domino. xx

I never seem to get to bed before 2am every night!

However banana's do help and not using my laptop or watching the Tv.
But this is hard to do, when there are soo many blogs to read.

Ps. Really do enjoying stopping by at your blog, lovely interiors and just so peaceful... if peaceful is the right word.

Oh I have heard about Lavender and sleep...but have never needed to use it to sleep. I do love the lovely scent...one of my favourites...let me know if it works.

Hello there,

Lavender is such a lovely soothing scent, I use it often for many purposes (great for burns) and my mammy believes it to be the no.1 essential oil to have in the first aid cupboard.

Also a warm bath with some celtic or himalayan sea salt in the evening is great for de-stressing and unwinding.(Avoid this if you have heart trouble, high blood pressure, or are diabetic.)

There is also a herbal supplement called Valerian which is used to promote sleep and useful for anxiety sufferers.

One important thing to always keep in mind is researching brands including essential oils and supplements as some are better quality and potency than others.

A glass of wine and a hot bath seems to work. Also, working out seems to do wonders. But, stopping the mind is quite a trick. I wake up so many times at 3am and can't get back to bed for hours. What to do? Let me know how the hops works.

Hello Isabelle! I'm very active and I never slep before 1 a.m....that's because I enjoy home with nobody else...the silence and the freedom! But when I sleep...I sleep! Anyway I appreciate your tips...and I love lavender so much! Thanks for sharing the link!
Happy new day!

I don't have any trouble sleeping, in fact quite the opposite! I need about 10 hours sleep per night and I go into a very deep sleep! Hope the lavender works for you. It is a lovely (and I always think very vintagey) scent.

First: when you cannot sleep, don't worry about that! Don't look at the clock too often to count how many hours of sleep are left eventually. I try to memorize things: what were the birthdays of the boys and girls at primary school. Never stay in bed hungry, eating high carb stuff is making it far more easy to get asleep! Keep some extra blankets and a little fleece hat in the vicinity of your bed, as cold is something that will stop you from sleeping too. In other words make yourself very comfortable! Good luck on the hop and lavender.

I'm very lucky in that I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. My husband however is the opposite, and goes over all the events of the day and worries about what tomorrow may bring. He has no trouble falling asleep infront of the telly after a few beers though! When I did have trouble some years ago,I did take Kalms, and they seemed to help.
My tip would be..don't eat after 7pm and have a milky drink before bedtime. When you are in bed try and relax every part of your body..you could even try a relaxation tape.

Have a lovely warm bath with your favourite bubble bath and one or two drops of Lavender Essential Oil.

Use lavender and chamomile scented body lotion and slowly rub it all over your body. Have a small lavender pillow under your pillow and give it a little squeeze every night before you go to bed.

Then lie and purposefully relax every muscle in your body until you feel calm and still.

Hopefully not long after this you will be sleeping peacefully.

Hi Isabelle,
Sachets filled with lavender under my pillow do it for me too...and a hot bath before snuggling down...of course it does help if you don't have anything worrying you too...
Hope you sleep well tonight...

Hello! Thanks for popping over to my blog and leaving a lovely comment. If you ever get a chance to go to one of Donna's sales, do go - you'd love it! If I can't sleep, I have a mug of warm milk (just like when I was little)! Happy snoozing. Katie x

Your herbs and tea look wonderful, have fun making a pillow to fill with those wonderful herbs.
I find a nice relaxing bath induces sleep, doing some relaxing crochet, and drinking a mug od horlicks about half an hour before bed, works every time. xxx

Sounds (and smells) like a perfect idea! I usually take a warm shower before going to bed, but if I have something on my mind and I wake up in the middle of the night, I'm in trouble! I keep myself awake trying to forget whatever it is I'm thinking about! lol

Hi lovely Isabelle,

Wow that is the farm where they had the lavender festival I went to in the summer, isn't it divine?
This time of year the chickens are normally wandering around the yard and they sell great big pumpkins all stacked uo outside, love it! My mum live very near so I get to stop in there every now and then.
On the subject of sleep, after the lag I am finally sleeping until about 5am! Thanks goodness :D

No problema geting to sleep it's the waking up in the middle of the night and letting silly things fill my mind that is annoying...perhaps a spoon or two of that medicine may do the trick!

I know just what you mean I have such trouble sleeping and Lavander sprayed on your sheets, or a scented pillow works wonders for me too. I have too much too think about when I should be sleeping. best wishes Julie.C

Hello Isabelle,

I also use lavender. My problem is that my husband snores terribly, so I could better find a cure for this snoring.
That shop in Kent looks nice.
Thanks for your lovely comment.

Sweet dreams,

Hello, Isabelle,
Hope these products work for you! I love the smell of lavender. I must confess, I am a night owl, always have been!! Now that I am retired I usually stay up very late but sleep in the next morning!! Just one of the perks of retirement, I guess. I know how it is with little ones when you are trying to get them calm and ready for bed. I raised two sons so I can identify. I hope you have a restful and fun week ahead!! Blessings to you, my friend. Vicki

Hello Isabelle!
I'm so sorry that you can't sleep, hope lavender could help you! Another remedy could be some drops of relaxing Damask Rose!
..luckily I'm too tired in the evening and I need an alarm clock to wake up the morning after!

Camomile tea makes me very sleepy - so much so that I can't drink it during the day as it just makes me nod off.
