LOUNGE MAKEOVER - Almost there!

At last, we are getting there...

Come and take a look at some of the changes..

Well there certainly was plenty of this and

plenty of that going on

Alan & I began the process of decluttering the lounge, pieces of furniture were taken away for good including the red armchair. Everything else had to be moved towards the window so that we could start painting the floorboards

Before

After...
The walls were painted with Endurance Durable and Washable Matt "Timeless" by Dulux & the floorboards were painted with International Polar White Matt floor paint.

Work in progress

and after....

The watercolour painting above the fireplace is one of my favourites.

The windows also had a makeover. The dark wood had to go! The frames are painted in Jasmine White by Dulux

Vintage curtains: Petronella by LIBERTY. A couple of years ago or so, Laura Ashley brought a very similar design, almost a replica of Petronella by Liberty fabric which no longer exists.

Lilly enjoying a spot of sunshine by the window

At last a spot of relaxation....This side of the room is more or less finished, just adding a few more decorative bits here and there. However, on the other side of the lounge there is still a bit of work going on. As soon as completed, more photos will follow...

A bientôt!

It looks lovely Isabelle. What a lot of hard work you have put but what a wonderful result. Ah, decluttering; I always find it is much harder than you think it is going to be. I am impressed by the level of decluttering you were able to do judging from your before and after photos. Your curtains are fabulous, especially the glass drops.

Dear Isabelle,
So much to inspire in this post. To be honest, I even liked the before photos of your lovely home! Your decluttering is giving me hope that I can get there however! I adore the wallpaper (trying to talk my partner into wallpaper at the moment) and the lace trims and the lovely feel of the room. I can't wait to see how the other half progresses. The floor to ceiling bookcase is perfect and we are about to fit our tiny cottage out with them. Thank you for sharing your world. xx

Love what you've done at the windows with the lace and droplets and the lace on the fireplace really makes a statement. I would love a fireplace, a focal point of the room, something to work round.
Can't wait to see the end result!

I notice you've been visiting some of my favourite places recently: Farleigh Hungerford Castle and the Peto Gardens. Both are not far from here. I adore the castle it is great as a picnic venue!
We must organise our cup of tea in Wells soon, as there is so much to chat about!

Its beautiful - you have worked so hard and it is so tranquil and pretty! I like all the little touches, the flowers, the pictures...we are still waiting to put alot of our bits and pieces back, alas they are still packed in boxes as we try and find five minutes to sand down an old bookcase and give it a fresh lick of paint! Then it will really start to feel like home again!

Enjoy your lovely new room!
