Fabulous FABRICS!

On one of my recent posts, I mentioned that I had bought some fabric from Donna Flower. A few days later, my parcels arrived. The presentation is always so neat and pretty.

You can always rely on Donna's website for a fantastic selection of vintage fabrics! It is no surprise, that Cath Kidston has mentioned Donna as being a supplier of antique & vintage fabrics in her latest book SEW!.

I was very disappointed not to have been able to attend Donna's Open house event recently but these parcels made up for it in some way.

I like a wide variety of textiles, old and new. My absolute favourites are vintage ones, especially dating from the 1930's, 40's & 50's.

PARCEL ONE

1950's Abstract Floral Cotton

1950's French Floral Fabric (So beautiful!)

PARCEL TWO

1950's Purple Rose Velvet Fabric (Photo doesn't really do it justice!)

1940's Bloomsbury Style Floral Fabric (Love it!)

1940's fabric Red Roses on Blue

1950's Stylised Floral Fabric (Really love the design)

Other textiles obtained recently. I acquired some discontinued sample books - Cath Kidston and Baer & Ingram full of fabric and wallpaper samples.

From Cath Kidston book

From Baer & Ingram book

There were also a couple of Ebay purchases

Liberty Tana Lawn Fabric "Felicite"

Cath Kidston fabric

Yellow and grey vintage sheets

I hope that you are all enjoying the half term holidays what ever you are up to! No school runs or getting packed lunches ready for a while ;-))

A bientôt!

Gorgeous!
I was lucky enough to win a giveaway on Donna's blog last year. She sent me some really gorgeous scraps that I can't bear to use because they are so utterly beautiful.

How those pictures took me back! I remember having a sunsuit when I was little made in something very similar to the red roses on blue one back in the 40's and my first garment made at school in Domestic Science lesson was in a fabric very much like the red roses on white 50's fabric! Seems so strange that you are all collecting as vintage things I remember from first time round, how time flies!

Gorgeous fabrics!! As I am just learning to sew (on a machine), I have a new appreciation for beautiful, quality fabric. I may have to look you up for the website. Do you have any projects planned??

Hope all is well with you...your children are on a break from school? Our daughter will be home around the Thanksgiving holiday. She just started college in August and I miss her so!!

Have a happy week!! :-)

Aren't they wonderful? They all slightly remind me of a stunning 1940s scarf I found at my mum's house - the colours were so bold and I would never have expected anything so 'modern' from the design! Have a wonderful time using them...

The next one is better than the last. I don't know where to look first. I keep scrolling up and down and back and forth. Love all of them, but the C.K. and those vintage are F.A.B.....

I can only imagine what you are going to create with all of these. Can't wait to see your progress.

Heading over to check out the 3D...If he likes to play with pictures. Head over to my garden and see the fun thing I posted today to play with....Something better to do than stare at your screen while the uploader is working.

Dear Isabelle,
What a wonderful treat from the postman! I love them all but my two faves are the 1950's French Floral and the Liberty 'Felicte' That is such a romantic print. I love it! I imagine a beautiful dress and a picnic in a very English looking meadow when I see it. Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. I had a lovely time but very exhausted after two days at Ikea! I always enjoy the school break and not having to do the lunches and morning teas! xx

Dear Isabelle,

I used to pop by regularly but then have been MIA for a while (touch of depression - a nice way of putting it!) and am only this week gradually finding my way back on to blogs... And it's lovely to be back and read posts again, and see the lovely pictures.

I love the expression 'French Florals' which you use to describe one of your fabrics. I think that could be a name for something!

Anyway, will try and read more, and just wanted to say hi.

Love Charlotte
xx

What fabulous choices, you can't really go wrong as Donna picks fabulous fabric doesn't she.

Loved the book tour before. I always find it a bit disconcerting when there are no books in a house.

What a fabulous selection of fabrics...they're all so gorgeous. Donna always has the most mouth-watering array of fabrics to choose from! My favourite has to be the 1940s Bloomsbury style floral design. Do you have projects in mind for them all yet? Katie x

What fun fabrics....I'm sure you'll put them to good use. I have a huge stash of sample fabrics. Have made a few things with them but will never use them all even if I live to be 150.
