Cupcake delivery & Miss Marple

This morning a welcome postal delivery arrived. A parcel from Victoria (Florence and Mary). This delivery has given me an appetite! Such beautiful photography capturing these mouth watering cakes... Thank you Victoria, a lovely giveaway which I am so pleased to have won.

Four pretty cards and a notebook

I have spent the weekend de-cluttering and decorating... This is not how we want to spend all our weekends but there is so much that needs doing that we have to accept that some weekends will have to be spent here working. In time, we will be able to sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labour! I do look forward to that time.

The lounge is not quite ready yet. Alan's desk/office has been under the stairs in the lounge for the past few years.

The removal has begun

At the weekend we moved the desk up in to my work room. We wanted a more spacious lounge and reclaim the area under the stairs. However, this means that the contents of his desk/office etc..are to be transferred to my workroom!

This will become a shared workroom. There are 7 large boxes worth of Alan's stuff that I have to make room for....Somehow it all has to fit in.....This is the boring bit, I much prefer the decorating of the finishing touches bit but it has to be done.

Have you seen the new Miss Marple? We have recorded it but I haven't seen it yet . It is maybe unfair to say anything now as I have not watched the New Miss Marple but I think it will be hard to beat Joan Hickson, my absolute favourite. I really cannot imagine anyone being as good or better. Agatha Christie told Joan Hickson that she hoped one day she could be her Miss Marple. Agatha Christie's wish became true.

I think I might have to bake some cupcakes this afternoon...

A bientôt!

Beautiful gift. No one can beat Joan Hickson I think :) They also insist on making them a touch more flashy, it's missing the quite intelligent and unassuming air that Miss Hickson bought to it.

What a lovely parcel to receive through the post. Pure torture looking at the cards though as I've started a diet today (again)!
I'm glad the house transformation is coming along well, it will be worth all the hard work I'm sure.
Just spotted your husbands website in your sidebar....off to have a look.
Taske care,
Jane. x

GREAT website! Some of the pictures in Lullington were taken standing at my friends house! I must send her the link as she's moved away now and rents out the house and really misses the area.

What a lovely gift, those cupcakes look delicious. I watched Miss Marple last night, still enjoyable but Joan Hickson is the best!

We've had the new Miss Marple over here on our PBS stations and it's good.

I was a HUGE fan of the previous Marple, and was wary of the change, and it IS different, but not too shabby ;)

Yea Joan Hickson! Love love love her! I used to love the music too, humming it right now actually and I loved the drawings on the title credits with lady looking steely eyed froma window behind the ubiquitous lace curtain!

Fell asleep last night so missed half of it! Mainly as I was tired! I think Julia McKenzie made a good stab at it. The thing I liked most was Miss Marple's cottage! Typical!

Have a lovely week Isabelle,

Hello Isabelle
I like this newsy post! What a wonderful giveaway, you lucky thing - those cakes look delicious. I'm pleased things are moving on with the decorating, though I think you are very brave to share your workroom - mine is so full there wouldn't even be room for 7 more boxes!
I've not seen the new Miss Marple. But don't you love a good drama or adaptation for the Autumn/Winter evenings?
Have a super week
(Very nice last breath of summer weather today!)

You cannot beat Joan Hickson as Miss Marple, I met her once when they filmed one of her Miss Marple's in Sidmnouth in about 1987/88, it was the "Sleeping Murder" a very lovely lady.

I don't think anyone can beet Joan Hickson as miss Marple. We still see an episode every week and while we have seen them all we always watch it again. It will be strange to see a new one.

A lovely gift!

Haven't seen the new Miss Marple. My Fave miss Marple was the one from the blk/whte era, the plump elderly woman with grey hair - can't think of her name! Typical, I'll remember it later I bet!

Isabelle I squealed with delight when I read this post (squealing doesn't sound very glam does it?) I posted about Miss Marple for my Monday post if you get a chance to pop over. Joan Hickson is the greatest. I adore her and David Suchet as Poirot yes! Marple is my fave. Lovely giveaway and I love the Cath Kidston notebook. The office space looks cozy where it was. Is that exposed stone? How lovely! We are also decluttering and it's a very hard task. We are moving out this week for more renovations to be done.
Take Care and enjoy your declutter. xx

As with so many others I think Joan Hickson was the best MM. I was so litle TV I didn't even know there was a new series, hope it's on Iplayer!

What a lovely gift you received, Isabelle! Love those cupcake pics!
As for Miss Marple- well, I am such a great fan of Joan Hickson (and David Suchet as Poirot) that I really cannot imagine any other actress playing the role!

What a lovely giveaway! When you make some of those cup cakes send some this way please.
Its sounds like the makeover is coming along well…we must make a start on our front room.

Far as I'm concerned, Joan Hickson is, was, and always will be the only *true* Jane Marple! A lot had to do with the writers and producer of the episodes she was in. They kept it in the time frame AC meant for it to be in and didn't try to modernize it or camp it up.

Isn't it amazing what just one little piece of polkadot ribbon will do. Such charm in small packages.

There is a very cool cupcake shop down the end of the Kings Road in London called Love Bakery that does the fluffiest cakes with rose or vanilla frosting. Grrrr want one now. PS is that Suzy Parker with the rose?

Yes, I've been decluttering too. Why do we hold on to so much? I have two people coming to take things away which I advertised on Freecycle today and there's a big skip in our drive, not to mention the bags waiting to be taken to the charity shops. All very cathartic though.
