Children, moos & bikes

On Monday we went to Kent for a couple of days. My sister has recently moved there from France. We had a bit of a family gathering and celebrated my parents' birthdays.
On Tuesday we headed back home to the West Country with an extra passenger in the car, my nephew. Miss P and Mast S are the same age (just 3 weeks apart) and share a love of nature and the outdoors.

During the week they have been exploring the countryside, cycling, waving to the steam train going by at the bottom of the field, creating a den (called HQ...) and many other activities. Today Miss P and Mast S went on a 5 km bike ride around country lanes in the Mendip Hills, Alan and I followed on foot.

First stop to say hello to the moos as Miss P calls them

Miss P and Mast S chatted to cows, they were most attentive!

Lovely views on the way

and some lovely houses

Race you!

How much further?

Two happy children!

I am glad that they are both outdoor children, it certainly helps during the summer holidays. I don't like the idea of them staying indoors all day watching TV. We are lucky enough to live in the countryside, in my opinion it gives children far more freedom when it comes to playing outdoors. Miss P has learnt so much since living here.

Since the arrival of the summer holidays it's been all go! So many things going on and of quality time being spent with my family. Normal blogging service will resume in September! (I hardly spend any time on the computer at the moment hence the lack of visits to your blogs, I am sure many of you are finding the same at this time of the year)

I hope that your holidays are going well and that the children are not driving you up the wall yet... ;-)

A bientôt!

They look as if they are having a wonderful time Isabelle. Both my boys enjoy outdoor life and the countryside. We went to London last monday to the Natural History Museum and then to Hamleys - great fun but very crowded and very hot and the relief when we saw green fields again from the train was enormous. Hope you have a lovely summer holiday. Karen X

Sigh! I so want to visit England someday and your pictures just make me want to get on a plane! Glad the kiddos are having a nice visit together! I've been busy keeping my kids entertained and my blog has suffered! Lovely pictures!
Enjoy the rest of your summer,

Hello Isabelle, What wonderful photo's of your daughter and nephew enjoying a country bike ride. That's the way I remember spending my summer holidays as a child. Unfortunately it wasn't in England but it was a wonderful place to grow up. Our summers were spent outside...not much TV and LOTS of playing with friends and just enjoying being children! My children are all grown up and living over 1800 miles away from us but we will be seeing them and the grandchildren soon. Can't wait! Have a wonderful Sunday...Maura

Looks lovely! We've been outdoors a lot too, and I agree - it's great when the children can get out and ride their bikes and enjoy just being outdoors! Like you though, there's less blogging time....

Master S is a handsome lad! Miss P looks as beautiful as ever. I shall have to show Daisy this post as she will love her loveheart top. Daisy is mad on lovehearts. I think you are so lucky to live in the countryside. Daisy loves our trips to the country and I constantly yearn to have a tree or seachange. In the meantime I sigh over your Blog. And very wise to have a break from Blogging to spend time with your family and have some life away from the computer. Enjoy your summer holidays. xx

Yes time on the computer is done to the bare minimum during the holidays as (hopefully) they are so many other things to do. The photos of the 2 children together on their bikes are so sweet. Enjoy the school hols.

I just LOVE the picture of them both riding away on their bikes, it's beautiful, I love to frame pictures like that, just capturing moments in time, not the usual posed pictures that usually end up in frames.
I too am SO glad that my children are both 'outdoors' children...come rain or shine they are both so much happier being out exploring the beaches and countryside.
Enjoy your summer,
Jane. xx
