Lounge cupboard makeover COMPLETED!

Do you remember this piece of furniture featured on one of my previous posts? It was painted in a very pale green colour when I bought it. Although a pretty colour, it did not go with the colourscheme in the lounge.

I painted it in Swedish blue but it came out a bit too dark so I added some an off white colour to the mix until I obtained the colour I was after.

Above shown still looking a bit too dark but here is what it looks like now:

Come and have a look inside...

Yes, I kept the wallpaper in the end. After the paint dried I began putting in a few items just to see what it would look like and I liked how it looked.

I still have a few gaps where I intend on adding more items.

The 6 cups & saucers belonged to my English Grandfather. They were given to him as a prize after winning a race (running) in 1930's.

Quite soon I will show you what I have done with the area under the stairs.

A bientôt!

Isabelle X

Bonjour Isabelle,

I love what you have done. Brilliant! My favorite is the Laura Ashley wallpaper in the back. I worked for years for Laura Ashley here in the states and that was always my favorite pattern. In fact, I used to have rolls of that pattern on hand because I would decorate presents with it! Your home is just so lovely.

I love your dresser, the colour and everything about it - I have a rubber wood one and would like to try this, maybe one day. I took a look at your husbands' work - I didn't have a 3d lens so will come back when I have - but I was so delighted to see Porlock Weir (where I spent my school holidays with my granny) it is my favourite place in the whole world and his pictures capture the atmosphere there completely.

The fabric, the shelf edging, what's hanging from the cupboard, what's on top, they all collectively make the piece look amazing. Enjoy it in good health and may the shelves always be full of lovelies for you to enjoy and to be shared with us.

It looks amazing, Isabelle and I'm so pleased you kept that stunning wallpaper. And I love all the treasures you have on display too.

I feel ever so slightly sick reading your previous post though, I had it in the diary to visit the antiques fair because we were going to be in Dorset but our plans were changed and we ended up elsewhere instead. The photo of all those lovely quilts has me salivating. Perhaps it's just as well!

Thank you for the kind thoughts.
