Furniture for the lounge - BEFORE

This is the piece of furniture we have bought for the lounge. Although I do like the colour (Bluey green) and wallpaper inside (discontinued Laura Ashley), unfortunately it doesn't quite go with the rest of the room. . On these photos the paint looks more grey than bright bluey green, I can't seem to capture the colour!

So it will be getting a new makeover. I will be putting a different wallpaper in the background, perhaps slightly less busy looking as I will have a mixture of vintage decorative items in the foreground on the shelves. I need to play around with a few wallpapers before deciding which one will look best. I am still looking around for the perfect one, vintage ideally! I have something in mind in my head but am yet to find it....

Also saw this little shelf as I was leaving
and...

this stool. They just had to come back with me too...

A lot painting to be done on Sunday, the stone wall that you can see behind the stool is going to be painted in an Ivory colour, the work room will also be getting some attention as it is nearing completion...Hooray at last!

Thank you to all of you who keep visiting my blog despite me not having been able to visit many of yours of late. I do read and appreciate all your comments and look forward to catching up with your blogs soon. There has been so much going on of late, one of the reasons I have not yet shared with you..but I will soon. ;-)

I wish you all a really good weekend!

A bientôt!

Isabelle X

Hi Isabelle, I remember early 90's when that paper was in I had primrose yellow walls with a paper band of it high around the wall, don't laugh, it looked nice then! However the cupboard is great.
Have a lovely painty weekend!

We have two mid brown leather sofas and the roman blinds are made of CK chintz (cream background with pink/red roses and other blue flowers). All the accent colours are pink, red or blue xx

You've found some great pieces of furniture. I love that cupboard. My mum used to have that Laura Ashley wallpaper in her dining room! Have fun choosing a new paper for it. I'm sure it will look stunning when you've finished with it.

Hi Isabelle
I love that cupboard - it is going to look fabulous!
Have you thought of using wrapping paper for the backing instead of wallpaper? We've got a bureau with a display cabinet at the top and I use pretty wrapping papers behind the shelves - I tend to just stick them quite lightly so that I can change them whenever I feel like it. Works a treat and also a very cheap option!
Have a super weekend - your house is coming along wonderfully,

Gorgeous cupboard Isabelle, it is going to look brilliant. I rather like the paper inside but, as you say by the time you have dressed it with your lovely things, perhaps a tad too busy?

The stool and shelf are great buys too, I hope you have a really good weekend, you are so industrious, looking forwrad to the reveal of the finnished room!

All three things are lovely. What a shame the vintage Laura Ashley wallpaper has to come off, but sometimes that's the way it is. Happy painting. xx

C'est un très joli meuble, et j'aime beaucoup le papier L. Ashley.
J'espère que vous allez trouver un joli papier vintage pour le remplacer.
Bon dimanche !

You have been busy of late. Hope the unsaid is good.

How annoying that the paper didn't work out. Couldn't you just paint it for now and then you'll have as long as you want to find that just so paper.

Take care and hope you are well.
