Ilminster Vintage Textiles Fair

Liz's stall

Today I headed off to Ilminster (Somerset), I went to the Ilminster Vintage Textiles Fair. There, I saw some familiar friendly faces and had the pleasure of meeting Niki from Nostalgia at the Stone House for the first time. Although I have bought things from Niki's website on and off over the past 2 years and have exchanged comments via email & blog, we had had not met face to face up until today. Both Donna's & Liz's stalls were beautifully presented!

Basket of corsets

The one that got away.... I saw her on Liz's stall but made the mistake of deciding to look around first as she was the first thing I saw. When I went back to Liz's stall to buy her, she had gone! I was trying to be so good, you know... not buying the first thing you see in case you see something else... What was I thinking of in this case!?!

Some of the things I came back home with

I love the colours of this Heather design fabric
LOVE this cushion cover!
From Donna's stall

Gorgeous fabric also from Donna's stall
From Donna's stall again...
Beautiful lace collar, pearl hat pin and mother
of pearl buckles

Really enjoyed the time I spent there. It was nice seeing some friendly faces and to see an array of such beautiful vintage fabrics, buttons, trims etc...
After the fair Alan & I drove to some villages nearby so that he could take some 3d photos to add to his Somerset 3d website. We finished off the outing with a late pub lunch.
A bientôt!

Hi Isabelle,
It was lovely to meet you yesterday - wasn't it a lovely fair! Everything was so tempting!
I have to break it to you...'the one that got away' was bought by me!! (The only piece that I bought for myself) If its any consolation, I would have snapped up those beautiful 40’s fabrics and the rose ones that you found! We obviously both have great taste! ;-))
Hope you have lots of fun using all of those lovely fabrics.

Hi Niki
How funny! At least now I know she has gone to a very good home and will fit in very well in her new surroundings! As you say we have great taste! :-)) What struck me when I met you for the first time yesterday is that you look too young to have a 21 year old daughter!!!
Hope you had a nice afternoon with your Aunt in South Petherton.
Take care :-)

Hi Isabelle! I had hoped to go to the fair myself, but I am in the middle of making a wedding dress for a customer this week, so the sewing had to take priority! Your purchases look wonderful - in particular I adore the heather fabric.
Interestingly, the wedding dress I am working on is made from vintage fabric from Donna Flower - doesn't she have the most wonderful selection?
I shall certainly be going along to the next fair (deadlines permitting!)
Have a good weekend

Oh, Isabelle, I'm so jealous. What beautiful things. By the way, that Marie doll, looks a lot like the one that Niki came home with.

You are so lucky! I really wanted to go, but it is quite a distance from home and husband is away on business ~ my gorgeous girl would not have been pleased at being dragged around a textile fair (much as she likes my fabric collection, buttons etc!)
You got some gorgeous fabrics ~ can't wait to see what you are going to do with them!
Maybe next time, sigh...
