Making the most of bugs

Over the past 10 days I have had yet another cold virus. I don't usually get them often but it's my second one in just 3 months! Last time I had laryngitis thrown in with it. I thought I was getting better towards the end of last week but at the weekend I moved on to a different bug...

Occasionally I did feel a bit like this ;-(

I longed to go out to enjoy the warm sunny weather....

I couldn't wait to get back in to a normal routine again, walking, fresh air and feeling bright and energetic again!

I imagined how I would love to be sailing around the River Helford in Cornwall...

and around Frenchman's Creek

Despite not feeling on top form, I decided to turn it in to an opportunity to catch up with some things I have been wanting to do but haven't always had the time for.
I still had to work (as I am self employed, if I don't do the work it doesn't get done and no sick pay of course ) But I caught up on some reading, blogging, going through healthy recipe books to get ideas on healthier meals which will boost my immune system etc...

I also took delivery of some parcels...

Vintage eiderdown

Discontinued Laura Ashley Wallpaper (The same as in my display cupboard)

Little vintage leather bag

Yes more supplies of Neal's Yard products.

I spotted this lovely outfit in one of the magazines I was looking at. I really like it, right down to the beret! It's now on my wish list...

At last today, I feel so much better! I have just been in the garden and have enjoyed some of that the sunny weather... ;-))

I hope that you are all enjoying your week. However, if you have been struck down by a virus try not to let it get you down, catch up with a few things..such as letter writing, reading, watch an old film, crochet, what ever will make you feel a bit happier....not housework though...

Ooh, I mustn't go without thanking you all for your lovely comments about my cupboard makeover. I enjoyed reading them all and am overwhelmed by the number of comments!

A bientôt!

HI Isabelle,
I hope you get well soon. But I agree that even though when feeling down, is a good time to catch up with things that normally with the craziness of life we don't have much time for.
Love your goodies. The Laura Ashley wallpaper is really sweet.

Glad you are on the mend now - it's so horrid to have a virus just when the sun is shining and the Spring has arrived! That little bear is so cute and he mirrored your posts so well! Keep looking on the bright side and I am sure your immune system will soon be in top form especially with the new healthy eating, all those lovely Neal's Yard smellies to pamper yourself with and those other lovely goodies. Take care and be 100% soon.

I am so sorry you were under the weather but it seems you know how to make the best of it. All I am able to do is read and watch T.V.!!

Love your little Teddy and his crumpled tissues!! He looks so sad looking out the windows. But I am happy you are feeling better and that you got outdoors.

I love the dress and beret, too. I hope your wish comes true!

I have a strange cure-all for colds and sore throats..... which it works for me.........! Try it! Honestly it does work! ICE LOLLY'S! Orange ones are the best! I sit down pretend I'm in a cinema, watch a film and eat my Ice Lolly. By the next day my cold/sore throat has eased.

That's really rotten, being laid low by another bug.
Glad you were able to still make productive use of your time though!

Hi Isabelle
How lovely that you are feeling better and have been out in the garden enjoying the beautiful sunshine and fresh air!
I did enjoy your photo-journal of little Agnes bear telling us about your days of feeling poorly - she's quite the actress, is little Agnes!
You certainly adopted the best attitude to dealing with feeling poorly by taking the opportunity to do lovely things.
And from your previous post, the cupboard looks amazing - what a great way to display your treasures - you've inspired me to do a makeover of the inside of our bureau display cabinet.
I hope you continue to feel well and dandy,
Happy days to you,

Sounds like you need to nurture yourself a little. Lots of rest, good food, and get your strength back so those horrid bugs don't get you. Loving Agnes...what a cutie !

Oh you poor thing, isn't it just typical that the moment the sun comes out you get the lurgy. So glad your furry friend is helping you out though. You must get yourself some coconut oil, it is a potent anti-viral and you can use it in lots of different ways. We swear by it in our home!

Get well soon and take care of yourself.

Glad you feel a little bit better and are able to be positive and do what you can. There have been some nasty bugs about this winter and spring. A bit surprising given the cold snap we had. Stll hopefully sunshine round the corner in more ways than one.

Dear Isabelle, what an adorable bunny rabbit. I am pleased you are on the mend. Don't forget to take garlic and most important of all - a few early nights. I am always frayed because I don't get enough sleep. We try to do too much! My David who is normally as fit as a bull, has been ill all year too. I think when Alfie died, his immune system collapsed. I'm a big believer that our emotional and physical health is very linked. I know you have had your cross to carry this year as well. It must cheer you to see how much beauty and pleasure you bring to so many stranger around the world as you detail your life. I love looking at your goodies! I shall have to try to track Neal's Yard products down. Keep yourself well, dearest. Thanks for your visits to my Blog. I always appreciate seeing you there as you have so many people to keep track of. xx

Bonjour Isabelle,

I too am stuck indoors with a nasty intestinal thing and am going through my blog-roll while the sun shines outside and my boots sit by the door. Pinning quilt pieces for design before sewing. On the floor. Two feet away from the bathroom door.........!

I hope your virus goes away soon! Your wee bunny is just so charming, and I love that wallpaper! I spotted your Neal's Yard bottles and it fondly reminded me of my last visit to the UK when I stocked up on them myself (I still have my blue GLASS bottles - I think they're plastic now?? - it shows you how long ago I was across the pond)! lol

Poor you Isabelle.. you have had far more than your fair share of colds and bugs this year..
I hope this beautiful Spring weather will lift your spirits and afford you some time in the garden. I find plants so healing and good for the soul!
The Helford is one of my favourite corners too.. and was only a hop and skip from my parent's cottage in Coverack. We often went to Helford village for lunch at the Waterman's Arms..I think that was what it is called. Haven't been for years but they did do a fantastic pasty there!
Hope you are feeling well enough to enjoy this weekend ahead.

I just wanted to wish you and your family a lovely weekend Isabelle. Hope you are feeling a bit better. David is still sick. Your comment made me smile on my Blog. We will have to grow old and a bit eccentric together on our Blogs. It's better than the alternative! All the years of broken sleep with Daisy and Alfie made my hormones go totally haywire!
I do love Rachel's new book. So lovely. Thanks for checking out the links I put up. Now I have to go and tackle a basket of ironing whilst I watch an English cooking show. Hee hee. Exciting Friday night! xx
