A thing for Roses

I love roses and their scent. It is one of my favourite flowers, the others being, lilacs, violets, daffodils, stocks, lily of the valley, wild primroses, lavender and bluebells.
I like many others too but those are my absolute favourite and as a result will frequently
feature in my house in one form or another.

Here is a selection of some of my fabrics and things featuring roses.

Rose plate given to me by my parents when Phoebe was
born
One of my favourites

Pretty chamber pot which used to belong my husband's Great
Great Grandmother Louisa Tummon. It was handed down each
generation and now is with us. My husband Alan is very interested in
Family tree and as a result many things are passed down to him for safe
keeping or to be investigated further. The chamber pot is something I
would chose to buy if I saw it at an antique market but the fact that
it has history behind it and that it belonged to Alan's Great Great Grandmother
makes it all the more special.

Here is a lithogragh of Louisa Tummon
(dates from around 1890's)

Painting hangs in the lounge, bought a couple of years ago from
Niki (Nostalgia at the Stone House)

I really like this fabric

Vanity brush & mirror

Curtains

I have a pair of these cushions, I really like blue roses on
fabric.

Hat with roses and a vintage scarf.

A bientôt!

Your roses are STUNNING! And that chamber pot is amazing and so colorful (I do love family history as well... especially as hubby and I have English and French roots)! =) Your chintzware is beautiful. (Your little treasure is well on its way to you by now - thank you again!) =)
hugs!

I love roses. Probably why I over order them every year just so I dont'd sell out and have none left. At the moment I can't think which one is my favorite variety, I've had so many over the years. One of the ones that hold up the best are the knockout series. They never get blackspot or mildew and bloom their heads off. You may be able to get then in the U.K.
Your collection is beautiful and nothing brights up a home more than roses. It's all gorgeous....

Hi Isabelle,

I adore roses too! They feature greatly in my vintage decor - plus I have some beautiful roses in the garden. My favourite is a very old rose which is a soft pink, has layers of petals and the most amazing scent. It originally grew in my childhood home and I took cuttings of it when I moved, so it will always be with me!

Have a lovely weekend,

Hi Isabelle,
What a beautiful post! I love every single photograph...
I feel I have to come clean and say that I don't recognise the painting, so perhaps you didn't buy it from me?...I do recognise a few other items though! ;-))

Lovely to see your photo on your side bar too - you are very beautiful!
Have a lovely weekend...don't work too hard on that decorating!

Hi Niki
Thank you for your really nice comments! The painting was one of the first things I bought from you. Ever since then, I have been on the look out for more pictures from you as I like you taste in pictures. I bought another small watercolour from you about a year ago or so. I don't expect you to remember all the items that you have sold though, you've sold so much over the past couple of years! I'm looking forward to recieving the bluebell picture.
Have a great weekend!

Ah, Roses - my all time favourite. And my favourite scent too. I do love the yellow roses in the first picture - I am a fan of yellow, and these are delightful. And I notice I have the same picture as in Phoebe's room, we have it in our lounge - isn't it evocative? I'd love to have the real vase of flowers pictured there!
