Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair Weekend

I hope that you have all had a good weekend. On Saturday afternoon I went to the Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair. Unfortunately, I left my camera behind :-( As I was wandering around looking at the different stands, I found myself drawn to a particular one. I liked the colours on show and the way it was all laid out. I started chatting with this very helpful lady from that stand. Further in to the conversation, I discovered that this helpful lady turned out to be Liz (The Washerwoman)! Although we have posted on each others blogs we had not met before. I found several items which I liked and bought (A green painted basket, green hat stand, lace & 2 pictures)
Tapestry fire screen bought from another stall.
The dark wood is going to get a coat of Farrow & Ball
paint.

The basket has found a new home

I love these sheer green 1950's curtains

The landing is still having decorative touches added here
and there but this is what it looks like so far. More pictures
to go up & other things too. Will show finished look in a future post.

I do like the landing, I find it quiet serene. Not an obvious place
in a house to want to sit down, read or have a quiet 5 minutes
but it works for me.

Recognize some things?

Cushions on the antique pine settle

A glimpse of some of the items to be found on the shelf

I recently had delivery of this very pretty
little rabbit named Maggie from The Vintage
Magpie's shop. She is so adorable!
Beautifully made.

Also last week, a parcel from Pretty Petals during
the week. I bought some old wallpaper cuttings
and 2 ballerina prints. Really lovely designs!
I framed one of the wallpaper cuttings as you
can see from the picture above (Blue floral)
This is also on the landing.

I had a very good Mother's day yesterday. Alan cooked a delicious roast whilst Phoebe and I played with a ball in one of the fields in front of the house. It's nice to be able to have the day off from cooking , housework etc. I hope all you Mothers out there had a good day too!

A bientôt!

Lucky you to live very near to Shepton Mallet. I haven't been for a couple of years, but I just love it! You got some great little treasures and the wallpapers from Pretty Petals are divine (must go and have a look!)
I love the big antique fairs as you feel that you can really make a day of it ~ I'm trying to plan a trip to Ardingly which I believe is a huge fair. I also went to Newark a couple of times which is amazing!!!
Love all your bits and pieces on display ~ it all looks so cozy and inviting...

Hey, Isabelle, it looks like you did well at the Antiques market! We usually go to all the flea and antique fairs at Shepton, but this weekend we didn't get there due to Mothers day and some essential decorating at home. We've painted our hall and landing Pure Brilliant White and we love the clear, calm serenity of it. So I can fully empathise with your pleasure in that lovely landing of yours. Have a good week. Happy times to you. Denise

So nice to have found you, or rather to have been found ;). I think we are definitely kindred spirits. ~Ann

Isabelle, your finds are simply fabulous!
I love the grren basket and your green curtains, too.
I am envious of your 'normal' sized windows; ours are big and modern and I have such a difficult time dressing them to make them look war, cosy, and inviting.
Your home looks charming and inviting.

Love all of your things, especially that basket and curtains. Love that green. I'm also a big fan of Farrow and Ball paints - I'm almost finished painting our whole house in them. And I love vintage wallpaper and have also bought from Heather - love how you framed yours!

Hi Isabelle,
I'm just trying (not getting any where very fast!) to catch up with all the blogging that's been going on in Blogland whilst I was away at the weekend...
It was so lovely to read yours - I'm glad that you have met Lizzie now - and she always has such lovely stock that's hard to resist!
;-))
And I love the homes you have found for your recent purchases. Everything is looking so pretty at your house!
Oh, and that firescreen - I think that is one of the nicest tapestries I have seen in a long time...look forward to seeing the paint job!

Enjoy the rest of your week,
Niki x

I went to the fair on Friday afternoon. It is such a long way for me to travel from Portsmouth but obviously not far for you at all. We bought some nice things too. Yes, Liz's stall was very appealing, wasn't it? I love that picture of the lady and baby on this post.

Hi Suzy

I just love it when I receive such kind comments.....especially from far away. Thank you for taking the time to come to my blog and comment. I would love to come to the UK some day...and maybe teach!! I have a 10 year old named Violet. I love your daughters name. My ancestry is half English (Dudley) and my husband and I love Europe in general. He has been to London on Business, but I have never been. Get a bunch of your friends together so we can have a class! Wouldn't that be fun?!

Your blog is so pretty to look at and I love your music. Bye for now!

Hello Isabelle,

I just love your post about the antiques fair. The season is starting over here in the Northern U.S., and I can't wait! Lots of treasures to uncover. Your green basket is adorable. Love what you did with your landing. Very cozy, indeed! Those belgium waffles look divine! I'll bet they melt in your mouth! Have a wonderful day,

You have even more Caroline Zoob prints?! You're so lucky! She's my heroine, her work is sooo beautiful and detailed :) I got married eight years ago so I was only just out of my teens and my tastes have changed so much! If it was now my wedding list would be totally different, I think that's a brilliant idea.

I just had a good look back through your blog to the beginning, I thought I'd visited before and it was on your 2nd post. I love your post about the roses, they are my favourite too, you have such lovely things.

See you soon!
