Lounge cupboard makeover COMPLETED!

Do you remember this piece of furniture featured on one of my previous posts? It was painted in a very pale green colour when I bought it. Although a pretty colour, it did not go with the colourscheme in the lounge.


I painted it in Swedish blue but it came out a bit too dark so I added some an off white colour to the mix until I obtained the colour I was after.

Above shown still looking a bit too dark but here is what it looks like now:

Yes, I kept the wallpaper in the end. After the paint dried I began putting in a few items just to see what it would look like and I liked how it looked.

I still have a few gaps where I intend on adding more items.


























The 6 cups & saucers belonged to my English Grandfather. They were given to him as a prize after winning a race (running) in 1930's.





Quite soon I will show you what I have done with the area under the stairs.

Sunday at Dairy House Antiques & down to the coast

Yesterday we went to the Dairy House Antiques for the Vintage Textiles & Costume Day.
It was a breezy sunny day, the stalls looked inviting so off I went to have a good look around. It's a fantastic building, with room upon room full of absolutely gorgeous antiques and vintage items. If you haven't been there before, it really is a must!

It was an wonderful opportunity to say hello and catch up with fellow bloggers & to meet ones I had not met before such as Tracey and Ali whom I was so really pleased to have a chat with. I also met Maggie who makes those beautiful bags & cushions which can be found in Niki's shop. It's so lovely to put a face to someone you have heard about or blogged with.


There was a huge turn out and at times it was difficult taking photos of the stall inside & out as so many people shopping and browsing around the stalls.


Niki told me about this beautiful embroidery. I had to see it for myself, the photo doesn't do it justice. It is a stunning piece of work.













Those photos are a very small taster of what was there.

On the top floor Miss P spotted a stall full of jewellery and decorative pretties made using vintage buttons. Miss P was very keen to have a tutorial given by Tamsyn G on how to make a heart.






That is what Miss P's heart looked like when she finished making it! I was so impressed, especially as it was her first one. She handed over to me and said "It's for you Mummy".
Twenty minutes later another little bag was given to me saying these are for you. She had bought the earrings with her pocket money. Miss P added, "Now you really will have to have your ears pieced again so that you can wear them". Something I had intended on doing but have not got around to doing yet. Now I have a good reason to get them done soon!

Here are some of the things I brought back, I could easily have bought a lot more but as we are buying two sofas this month, I had to be more restrained than usual...







After the fair we headed toward the coast, stopping in the Martyr Inn - Toldpuddle (Dorset) for lunch. En route to Weymouth we drove through Affpuddle, Briantspuddle & Bovington to show Miss P where I used to live and the places I used to visit or cycle to. She loved the house I used to live in and said that she would buy it as soon as she could afford it! She declared on the spot that she wanted to live there, in Affpuddle. ;-))

Eventually we arrived in Weymouth, Miss P loves it there as you can tell by the photos.




It was a great day out! I hope you all had a great weekend too.

Keeping everyone entertained over the holidays

How are you all coping with keeping the children happy & entertained during the Easter holidays? It's not always easy is it?....

A couple of days ago a friend of Phoebe's came over to play. After lunch in Pizza Hut we went to the cinema to watch Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang. I have seen the first one 2 or 3 times with Miss P. I like the idea of a Nanny McPhee. There have been times when I have thought: "Oh how I could do with a Nanny McPhee right now" but sadly she has never materialised when I have been in need of her...;-))

I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy the second film as much as the first one. Although I still think that I prefer the first one I did enjoy this one very much. What helped is that it's set in the 1940's, one of my favourite decades!

The Mother of the 3 children is called Isobel in the story. As soon as Miss P heard that, she shouted out loud in the cinema "Mummy that's your name!". A few heads turned round, I smiled sheepishly...

As the film progressed, I observed the decor of the interior of the house (ignoring the mess), especially the bathroom, master bedroom & lounge. I confess to missing out of some of the dialogue as I was busy studying the wallpaper, furniture & colour scheme! I loved the interior look of that house, the colour scheme (lots of green) was right up my street.

The clothes that the Mother was wearing were gorgeous! Pretty tea dresses.









If you have have children and haven't seen it yet, I would recommend it!

Apart from that there has been a lot of walking, cycling, playing and housework during this holiday so far. Miss P helped me wash all the downstairs windows inside and out today. She did a great job.

Tomorrow (Sunday 11Th) we will having a day out in Dorset to visit the Dairy House Antiques centre for the Vintage Textiles and Costume Day. There will be a selection of beautiful stalls there, I can't wait!

Easter Flea finds

I hope that you all having a good Easter weekend. Today, the weather was a bit cold and windy but it was SUNNY!
First thing in the morning we went around the garden in search of eggs and Easter goodies. Miss P had a great time collecting eggs in her basket.







After that, I headed for the Shepton Mallet Flea market.

I am pleased with what I brought back. However, I made the mistake of thinking about buying a floral eiderdown I saw as soon as I arrived there. Instead of snapping it up on the spot, I went away and thought about it. By the time I decided to go back for it, it had gone...You know that feeling, when you look back and wonder why on earth you just didn't go for it when you had the chance, nevermind....


This is my favourite find! I didn't hesitate one bit when I saw this chair. Although I don't really know where it's going to go in the house, it still had to come back with me. The colours are so me!


















When I returned from the flea market, Alan had a lovely Sunday roast ready for me and one of these was waiting for me. Decorated by Miss P.
